SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's tennis doubles team of Markus Dickhardt (Marburg, Germany) and Christian Groh (Crailsheim, Germany) fell just one victory short of qualifying for the main draw at the 2005 Polo Ralph Lauren ITA All-American Championships Qualifying Tournament in Tulsa, Okla., on Wednesday. Dickhardt and Groh were defeated by Duke's Joey Atas and Jonathan Stokke, 8-4.

Dickhardt and Groh began doubles play on Tuesday by upending Jiri Spousta and John Kellert of Missouri State, 8-2. After receiving a second-round round bye, the Aztec tandem was thwarted in its bid to advance at the tournament, which was held at the University of Tulsa's Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

The Aztecs return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 19, for the ITA Western Championships in Malibu, Calif.
