SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State football team held its final on-campus practice Thursday in preparation for the season-opener against UCLA. The Aztecs worked out three times this week, as school opened for the semester on Wednesday.
Head Coach Tom Craft
On the week of practice:
"I think you always want to have a little bit more time to prepare. We've always put the focus on ourselves and what we can do to improve. I think as the games come up, we can adjust some of the areas we need to change."
On turnovers:
"We've had some turnovers the last two years that have been the difference in ballgames. Each team is different, though. We're always looking to improve the giveaway-takeaway column - that is a big part of a team's success. In a big game, when you're a bit out-manned, turnovers become critical."
On the importance of the UCLA game
"It's a matter of how we play. It's not going to be perfect, it never is early. It's a natural progression that should follow each game. We're looking forward to this game and the upcoming games. We're not going to imagine or dream about what a win would mean. Right now our focus is on the journey. We need to do everything day-to-day a little bit better. We're focused on the game right now and not the history."
