SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State University Department of Athletics has hit a grand slam with the addition of a new corporate partner, Denny's restaurants. A portion of the proceeds from sales of Denny's Grand Slam Slugger breakfast will support SDSU and several community-focused programs.
"The comprehensive Denny's partnership encompasses many important elements that help grow and foster interest in the SDSU athletics department in the long term. We salute Denny's for their commitment on behalf of our student-athletes," said Steve Becvar, SDSU's senior associate athletic director.
Through the end of 2005, contributions made by Denny's Grand Slam Slugger promotion will benefit scholarships for SDSU students. Additional plans include a limited-edition Denny's SDSU football trading cards promotion and football tickets for youth participating in the Boys & Girls Club of San Diego.
"We're so pleased to offer a place for fans of both Denny's and Aztec athletics to enjoy a hearty meal, cheer on their favorite team and feel good about supporting an important educational institution in our community," said Brian Tademy, director of field marketing for Denny's. "This partnership reinforces Denny's commitment to giving back to local communities."
The Grand Slam Slugger features buttermilk pancakes, eggs, bacon strips, sausage links - two of each - and is served with hash browns or grits or choice of bread, juice and coffee. The special promotion is available at participating Denny's restaurants in the San Diego area.
