SAN DIEGO -

San Diego State and Brigham Young played one game before a bank of lights at the SDSU Stadium went black, postponing the conclusion of game two until Friday morning at 9:30. The contest will pick up in the top of the fourth with one out and the Cougars leading 2-1. BYU won the first game 5-0, improving to 21-8 and 3-0 in the Mountain West, while the Aztecs fall to 22-17 and 0-5 in MWC play.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

The Cougars picked up their runs in the second, fourth and sixth innings, four coming by way of two out hits with the bases loaded. All five RBI were recorded by the bottom of the BYU order, with Jennifer Whiteley leading the way with a 3-for-3 afternoon with an RBI triple.

Cori Janelli (9-9) picked up the loss for SDSU, allowing eight hits and three earned runs in her six innings of work. Katie Cochran worked a perfect seventh for the Aztecs. Summer Tobias picked up the complete-game shutout, striking out three and allowing six hits in her seven innings.

SDSU was led at the plate by Allison Smith, who was 2-for-3 on the afternoon, along with Lacey Craft, who was 1-for-2.

Game two will resume with one out and no runners on in the top of the fourth and BYU leading 2-1. Kristen Carranza slammed a triple and Taryin Casillas knocked an RBI single to score the Aztec run in game two. Celena Velasquez replaced Cochran in the first, allowing no runs on a single and a walk in three innings of work.

After Friday's continuation, SDSU will host <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Utah in a doubleheader Saturday, game time set for 1 p.m.
