AZUSA, Calif. - San Diego State's Janine Polischuk (Regina, Saskatchewan) recorded season-best marks in the 200 and high jump on the first day of the Mt. SAC Relays Heptathlon Wednesday in Azusa, Calif. The sophomore is in 11th place after four events with 2,958 points, only 105 points back from sixth-place.
Polischuk ran the 200 in 25.97 seconds and cleared 5 feet, 2 1/2 inches in her first heptathlon of the season. She also competed in the 100-hurdles (14.76) and shot put (34-4 1/4).
Former Aztec great Aja Frary, the school-record holder in the pentathlon and heptathlon, leads after day one with 3,283 points.
The Mt. SAC Relays Heptathlon will conclude tomorrow and Polischuk will join the rest of the team at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays this weekend in Walnut, Calif.
