COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Senior Indra Erichsen has been named Mountain West Conference women's tennis player of the week. The weekly award is the first of her career and comes after winning all five of her matches last week. The accolade is the third time that an Aztec has been honored this season.

Erichsen enjoyed a week in which she posted two singles victories and three on the doubles side. At No. 4 singles, she defeated Carla Pallares in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, in SDSU's narrow 4-3 win at Colorado State. Later in the week against Long Beach State, Erichsen battled Rachael Porsz at the fourth position. The senior lost the first set, 3-6, but came back to win the second by a score of 7-6. With the outcome already decided, the third set went to a supertiebreaker with the senior coming out on top, 10-7, on Senior Day.

In doubles, she and freshman Nina Spaeth went 3-0 at No. 1. Against Wyoming, the two disposed of Corina Lazar-Amy Senko, 8-4, and posted the same score the following day when they defeated the Ram tandem of Emily Kirchem and Anne Anderson. In Erichsen's final home doubles match against the 49ers, the duo's 8-6 win clinched the doubles point for SDSU as they went on to record the 5-2 victory.

For the season, Erichsen owns a singles record of 11-7 overall, including a 6-2 mark at No. 4. With Spaeth as her partner, the two boast a doubles record of 6-1 at No. 1 and 7-1 on the year.

Erichsen joins Andrea Hermansen (Feb. 9) and Dita Hauerlandova (March 9) as the other Aztecs honored this season.

The third weekly award ties Colorado State for most in the conference.

San Diego State is in action Friday when it takes on Brigham Young in Provo, Utah. The match is scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m. MST.
