-The Records: The San Diego State women's basketball team plays a pair of games this week, finishing out its non-conference schedule with a Thursday evening contest against Utah Valley State College at home, before beginning round two of MWC play Saturday at UNLV.
The Aztecs take on the Wolverines Thursday in the first-ever meeting between the two squads. Utah Valley State is in its second year of Division I play and boasts an overall record of 2-18 as an independent.
SDSU, meanwhile, is looking to make it two in a row versus UNLV, having beaten the Lady Rebels for the first time in 10 tries, 76-60, in San Diego on Jan. 15. The Lady Rebels, who were picked to win it all in the pre-season league poll, are 11-10 overall and 2-5 in the MWC, with their lone conference victories coming against New Mexico and Air Force both at home.
-SDSU Head Coach Jim Tomey: Tomey (Michigan '81) is in his third season at San Diego State after taking over the Aztec helm on April 9, 2002. His career and Aztec head coaching record is 23-51.
-UVSC Head Coach Cathy Nixon: Nixon is in her 10th year at Utah Valley State and carries a school and career record of 203-104.
