SAN DIEGO STATE POSTGAME QUOTES

Head Coach Steve Fisher:

On The Game:
"Right now we're not good enough and we have the capacity to be good enough. Our first-half effort was as good as I could have hoped for. In the second half we gave up too many easy looks. You can't do that when you're playing a good team.

"I think we can learn from our non-conference schedule and start turning some of these tough losses into some exciting wins."

On Mohamed Camara
"I would agree that this was his best game. He rebounded well and defended pretty well."

SDSU Player Quotes:
Marcus Slaughter:
On Providence's Ryan Gomes:
"He is a good player. His team does a good job of getting him the ball and he is aggressive."

Brandon Heath:
On the game:
"We lost. I hate losing. We just have to come to practice tomorrow and go out there and be ready for the next game. We cannot hang our heads thinking about this loss. We have got to move on. We have to find a way to win games down the stretch and get this thing moving. I think the game is there, it's just the small things like getting loose balls, rebounds and hitting free throws and giving up second chance points."

Providence Head Coach Tim Welsh:
On the game:
"Overall it was a great team effort. Anytime you travel cross country it's tough. Especially when there is a two-hour delay. But I thought our guys handled it very well. They hung in there, even though they didn't have their best game, and grinded it out until the end. It will give us confidence for our Big East road games."

On the second half:
"We played very efficiently the second half, the 71% shooting from the field certainly helped, too. We also rebounded much better."

On the play of Ryan Gomes and Donny McGrath:
"Ryan and Donnie made great plays down the stretch. That's what veteran players do, though, they know how to win on the road."

On SDSU:
"The people at San Diego State were very classy about the delay. It's not what happens, but really how you handle it. It was nice to see the fans stick around."

Providence Player Quotes:
Ryan Gomes
On the game:
"It was a good game except for the delay, waiting for two hours. We came out here for a win and we knew we were playing a good team. We knew they had two good scorers in Brandon Heath and Marcus Slaughter. We were sluggish in the first half, but our defense kept us in it. It was a good team effort and we rebounded the ball well and that was the difference."

On SDSU's Marcus Slaughter:
"He is a good player and a good athlete. He turn around and hit the jump shot and he had I believe, eight rebounds in the first half, so that shows what type of player he is."

On coming to California:
"It was nice. It was my first time out here in California. Hopefully I'll be back here in April when John Wooden announces the top-five players."
