- SAN DIEGO STATE POSTGAME QUOTES
Head Coach Steve Fisher:
On The Game: "We got the win, which we appreciate. For a while it looked like we were going to win in friendly fashion. Brown made some big shots to help them come back. I thought over the last four minutes we started watching the clock and quit trying to score."
On Changes In The Starting Lineup: "I told the players on Saturday there would be changes but I wasn't sure at that time what they would be. The guys who started did so because they deserved to start. Their play and practice warranted them starting. Tommy Johnson made some big plays and I thought Tyler Smith was wonderful all night."
On Free Throws: "I consider us a pretty good free throw shooting team. We weren't tonight. We missed some free throws and we missed a lot early. I think Brandon is a great free throw shooter and I know he missed a couple. We were in a position with a 15-point lead to win comfortably if we just stayed the course."
SDSU Player Quotes:
Marcus Slaughter: On the game: "It should have never come down to that. But they're a good team. We're just happy to get that monkey off our back. The four-game losing streak is over so now we can start upward and we're just very excited right now."
Brandon Heath: On the game: "It's a great win going into the Christmas break. We didn't want to go into the break on a five-game losing streak. We know it shouldn't have been a three-point game but it was. When the lead is double digits we have to learn as a team to not let up, and put them away and keep them away."
Tyler Smith On his first start: "I found out today I was going to start. I didn't know how much I was going to play. I think I did a pretty good job. It's a team game and all of players know that. WE did a good job of gelling together."
CS Fullerton Head Coach Bob Burton:
On having Jamaal Brown and Ralphy Holmes back: "I was glad to get the two guys playing again. It was the first time Jamaal Brown has played in two years. They will be better the next couple of games. "
On the overall team: "Our guys didn't quit. We gave effort the whole game. Our defense was great, but inconncent. Our offense was really inconsistent. I have never had a team shoot 29 percent and still only lose by three. We had good looks, they just weern't falling."
On Bobby Brown: "Brown kept making shots for us. He really kept us in the game."
