SAN DIEGO (AP) - Marcus Slaughter had 15 points and 13 rebounds as San Diego State held off Cal State Fullerton 63-60 to end a four-game losing streak Tuesday night.
The Aztecs took a 61-52 lead with 1:14 left, but needed two free throws by Brandon Heath with seven seconds to go to help seal the win.
Fullerton's Jamaal Brown missed on a 3-point try in an effort to force overtime as time expired.
Heath had 17 points to lead the Aztecs (5-5) despite coming off the bench for the first time this season.
Bobby Brown scored 27 points, going 7-for-11 from 3-point range, to lead the Titans (3-3), who shot just 29 percent from the field (20-of-69) in their first game since Dec. 10.
He hit his final 3-pointer following a San Diego State turnover to cut their deficit to 61-58 with 1:01 left.
San Diego State shot 41 percent from the field (24-of-58), surpassing the 36 percent level for the first time in four games.
The Aztecs, who held a 32-26 halftime edge, saw their lead reduced to 38-36 seven minutes into second half but then reasserted control with a 15-2 run, including seven points by Slaughter, for a 53-38 edge with 7:27 to go.
