- Head Coach Steve Fisher:
On The Game:
"If we had won, I would have been happy and smiling but I would have felt guilty because they outplayed us and deserved to win. You can't win too many games with 19 turnovers and you certainly can't win many games when someone shoots 58 percent in a half. We had too many turnovers. Not to take anything away from them but about half of them were of our own doing."
"Now you go on from here. We have another game on Monday."
On Chris Manker:
"Chris has been practicing as well as anyone that we have. He's playing with a lot of confidence right now."
SDSU Player Quotes:
Marcus Slaughter:
On the game:
"In overtime, the plan was to put it inside. We had people open and we took some shots didn't make it, they took shots and made it. We were trying to follow it, but we just couldn't make shots. In overtime the first basket is crucial, we didn't get it; we fell behind by two buckets and that's what did it."
"We learned our lesson quick and early tonight. We're not going to let it happen again. This is first the game, and we didn't get the win. One game down, we have to practice tomorrow, get the win on Monday and we have to learn from our mistakes."
"We're tired of learning games from losses, so we're going to win next game."
Brandon Heath:
On Defense:
"We had a bad rotation. When they kick out to make three-pointers, which they did, they were just able to make those threes. We have to work hard and put our hand up there if they are going to shoot threes, especially in overtime. After allowing one or two three-pointers, we just can't let them do it again."
Chris Manker
On the game:
"I'm just very disappointed, but you learn from games. Tonight's loss is the best and worst way to learn. We'll be back on Monday. All I can is that season isn't over."
UC Santa Barbara Head Coach Bob Williams:
On the confidence of the Gauchos after the victory:
"It was great for us. To come away with a win against such a good team with only nine players was phenomenal. I'm very proud of the guys."
On the play of freshman Alex Harris:
"He came up big for us in his first game. He has great confidence for a freshman and plays very well under pressure."
On the play of senior Chrismen Oliver:
"He really dictated the tempo tonight. He played 41 minutes for us and had only one turnover. When he was on the bench, we were in trouble."
On Marcus Slaughter's game-tying shot to force overtime:
"It was tough, especially since it was the same play they ran against us in the 2003 NIT, only a different result. He (Slaughter) was just too athletic for us and he worked hard for that bucket."
On the defensive play of San Diego State:
"You've got to give their defense credit. Their pressure style kept giving them opportunities and they capitalized on them. They never gave up."
