GREELEY, Colo. - In the first of two road meets, the San Diego State swimming and diving squad defeated the Northern Colorado Bears, 172-128, at Butlet-Hancock Pool Friday evening. SDSU improved their record to 3-3 overall on the year.

The Aztecs started off hot, winning the first six events. The 200-yard medley team of Samantha Peters, Lindsay Hnyda, Stella Karoly and Caitlin Friedhoff got SDSU on the board early by winning the relay in 1:52.27.

Emily Parker (1000-yard freestyle), Friedhoff (200-yard freestyle), Katie Smith (100-yard backstroke), Jennifer Arrow (100-yard breaststroke) and Emily Schmied (200-yard butterfly) followed with victories to put the Aztecs out in front.

In addition to Parker's win in the 1000-yard free, she also posted a victory in the 500-yard freestyle event. It was the first time this season that the sophomore from Novato, Calif. has won two events in the same meet.

The Aztecs had three swimmers win multiple events in their second non-conference meet of the season.

Hnyda, who swam the second leg in the 200-yard medley relay, took first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:30.05. The win was the freshman's first of her career.

Karoly, one of the four swimmers on the 200-yard medley relay team, notched a victory in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:15.65.

Junior captain Schmied wrapped up the 100-yard butterfly by beating out teammate Karoly with a mark of 1:00.67, after taking the 200 fly earlier in the meet.

Sarah Davis also chipped in with her win in the 200-yard backstroke. She finished with a time of 2:12.21.

The Aztecs next meet is Saturday against the Wyoming Cowgirls at 12 p.m. MT.
