SDSU Cross Country Finishes 16th At Stanford Invitational

PALO ALTO, Calif. - The San Diego State cross country team finished 16th (398 points) at the Stanford Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Stanford won the 19-team meet with 34 points followed by Cal Poly (84), Chico State (98), UC Irvine (113) and UC Davis (141).

Junior Christal Cuadra was the top individual finisher for the Aztecs for the second consecutive meet, covering the 6,000-meter course in a 42nd-place time of 23 minutes, 22 seconds. Anita Siraki of Stanford won the individual title with a time of 21:14.

Sophomore Ali Baker (24:34) and freshman Brookie Detterman (24:41) placed 83rd and 85th respectively, while sophomore Sara Cates (24:53) took 90th.

Sophomores Christian Fairing (98th place, 25:14) and Celeste Tyson (99th, 25:14) and junior Jackie Duncan (107th, 25:37) also completed the course for SDSU.

The Aztecs will have a week off before playing host to the Pre-Mountain West Conference meet on Oct. 9 at 9 a.m.
