SAN DIEGO - San Diego State track and field coach Rahn Sheffield has announced the signings of four recruits for the upcoming 2005 season. The four notable recruits include a college transfer and three prep standouts.

The college transfer, Naonka Mixon, will provide leadership to the Aztecs, who finished second in both the indoor and the outdoor Mountain West Conference Championships in 2004.

Mixon, a transfer from Los Angeles Southwest College, is a 2001 high school graduate of Long Beach Polytechnic. Mixon will compete in the 100-meter high hurdles, long jump, triple jump and the high jump for the Aztecs. Mixon, who attended Central Arizona Community College from 2001-02, has personal best jumps of 19 feet, 10 inches in the long jump, 41-2 in the triple jump and 5-9 in the high jump. All three would put her in the all-time Aztec top-10 list.

Highlighting the list of prep standouts is Monica Pacas. A 2004 Atascadero High School graduate, Pacas was the California state runner-up in the pole vault. Pacas was the only high school junior in 2003 to clear 13 feet in event.

Other incoming prep athletes include sprinters Brittani Dudley and Sherraine Pencil. Dudley ran a personal best time of 54.66 in the 400 for James Logan High School in Oakland, Calif. last year. She was also a member of the California state runner-up 400 and 1,600-meter relay teams in 2004.

Pencil, a 2004 graduate of Vaughan Road Academy in Toronto, was a bronze medalist in the 400 at the 2004 OFSAA Metro Regional Championships. Her personal best times in the 200 and 400 are 24.57 and 55.85 respectively.
