First Day of MWC Tournament Cancelled; Format Now Single-Elimination

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Because of snow and rain in the Fort Collins, Colo., area, the Mountain West Conference Softball Tournament saw its first day of play cancelled and the format changed to single-elimination to ensure that the tournament will be able to see its conclusion by Saturday.

The original game schedule for Thursday will remain the same on Friday but with the different format -two quarterfinal games in the morning and a pair of semifinal contests in the afternoon.

The Aztecs' single-game semifinal is at 2 p.m. MDT on Friday versus the winner of the 9 a.m. BYU/New Mexico contest. The MWC championship game is slated for a 2 p.m. start on Saturday. Live stats for all tournament games can be accessed here.

Friday, May 14
Quarterfinal - No. 3 BYU vs. No. 6 New Mexico, 9 a.m.
Quarterfinal - No. 4 Utah vs. No. 5 UNLV, 11:30 a.m.
Semifinal - No. 2 San Diego State vs. BYU/New Mexico winner, 2 p.m.
Semifinal - No. 1 Colorado State vs. Utah/UNLV winner, 4:30 p.m.

Saturday, May 15
Championship - Semifinal Winners, 2 p.m.
