LOS ANGELES - San Diego State dropped a MPSF matchup to No. 3 UCLA, 8-5, on Saturday in Los Angeles. The Aztecs fell behind 5-2 after two quarters and could never regain the momentum to get back into the match. Senior Holly Hartzell led SDSU with two goals, two assists, and three steals. SDSU falls to 18-5 overall and 7-2 in the MPSF.
The Aztecs held tough in the first quarter as the two teams went scoreless until 24.8 seconds remaining when Kristina Kunkel got UCLA on the board. The Bruins kept the ball rolling with four goals in the second quarter. SDSU could get no closer than three the rest of the way as the Bruins answered every Aztec score.
Dominique Delgado, Savanah Kelley and Chelsy Smith each posted a goal for the Aztecs. Ashley Zabel was in the cage and registered seven saves.
The Aztecs will host No. 1 USC on Friday, April 9. The start of the game has been changed to 3 p.m.
