SAN DIEGO - San Diego State recorded two easy victories in its final regular season action posting an 11-2 victory over Cal Baptist in the morning and an 11-4 win over Cal State Northridge in the afternoon. The victories improve No. 5 SDSU's record to 25-7 on the season, which is the second most wins in school history. On senior day, Sandy Onweller scored five goals while Holly Hartzell and Chelsy Smith both scored four.
SDSU jumped out to a 7-1 halftime lead and cruised to victory over Cal Baptist. Freshman Sarah Kilgore recorded a SDSU season high 16 saves in the cage to earn the win, while tying the season low for goals allowed in a game. Onweller and Elana Cervantes both tallied hat tricks, while Hartzell added four assists.
The afternoon game was more of the same as the Aztecs were never threatened, jumping out to a 9-1 lead midway through the third quarter. Hartzell and Smith both scored three goals, while Ashley Zabel and Sara Daseler split time in the net.
The Aztecs will prepare for next weekend's MPSF Tournament, in which they have earned the No. 4 seed and a first round bye. SDSU start the tournament against the winner of the LBSU/Pacific game on Friday, April 30, at 5:00 pm in Long Beach, Calif.
