SAN DIEGO - San Diego State freshman Janine Polischuk (Regina, Saskatchewan) placed third with 5,089 points Thursday at the California Invitational Heptathlon in Azusa, Calif. The 5,089 points rank ninth in school history and meet the provisional qualifying standard for this June's NCAA championships in Austin, Texas.
Polischuk, competing in her first heptathlon as an Aztec, finished behind event winner, Virginia Tech sophomore Saskia Triesscheijn, who tallied 5,292 points. Polischuk's 5,089 points place her 15th in the NCAA rankings entering this weekend.
