SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's track & field squad finished day two of the 61st annual Florida Relays with three, top-five finishes Friday at the Percy Beard Track and Field Complex in Gainesville, Fla.
The Aztecs' 4x200 relay of Larnie Boyd (Vallejo, Calif.), Bianca McNair (Portland, Ore.), Tonette Dyer (Shreveport, La.) and Hollann Givens (San Diego, Calif.) placed fourth in the field of 19, crossing the finish line in 1:35.98. The time ranks fourth fastest in school history and is three seconds off the SDSU record of 1:32.99, which the Aztecs set at the same meet a year ago.
Individually, junior Shayla Balentine (Los Osos, Calif.) and sophomore Jamillah Titus (American Canyon, Calif.) had the other top-five finishes. Balentine tied for fourth in the pole vault by clearing 12-3.50, her third NCAA regional qualifying mark in as many chances. Titus, coming off her fifth place in the 1,500 Thursday night, also came in fifth in the 800 with the team's top time this season of 2:11.43.
Two Aztecs qualified for Saturday's finals, as Dyer ran the seventh-fastest time of 11.79 in the 100 meters and Heather Heron (Yakima, Wash.) was fifth in the prelims of the 100 hurdles with a wind-aided effort of 13.67.
SDSU rounds out competition at the Florida Relays Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. EST.
