SAN DIEGO -
San Diego State 90, Cal Poly 71
SDSU Record: 6-3
San Diego State Head Coach Steve Fisher
On tonight's game:
"That was nice win for us against a good basketball team. This was one of the best defensive games we have played and we did a pretty good job most of the time inside. I was pleased. We pursued the ball and did a wonderful job of rebounding the ball offensively. I think we can grow from this experience tonight. Our defensive pressure created offensive opportunities."
On upcoming game with Eastern Washington:
"Last year they spanked us on a special night (hanging the MWC banner). They beat us bad. We'll be ready to play on Saturday. They are a good team in spite of their record. We need to come with the same energy and intelligence. We need to come at them from the opening tip. If we do that I think we will be O.K.
On Wesley Stokes:
"Wesley is our most important player. We feed off what he does, good and bad. He was able to get in the gaps to create opportunities for others and that was contagious."
On Brandon Heath:
"Brandon is a tremendously competitive young man and I didn't realize he was as good as he is until we started practice. If you asked me a year ago if he would have these kind stats I would have said 'probably not'. He is a very good player."

On sharing the ball:
"That is something we have really been emphasizing in practice. I think we have been shooting the ball a little too quickly. Recalling that Texas Tech game, we were just making one or two passes and trying to do something. In practice, we were just trying to move the ball and get good looks, passing up the first one to get that second great one."
On gaining confidence:
"When you see a couple of shots go down, it is going to give you a little confidence on the defensive end. And to see my first two shots go down, it gave me great energy. My shot has been a little off the last two games."
Aerick Sanders
On his performance:
"I just had the opportunity to score. I didn't get into foul trouble. I was in good position and Chris (Walton) found me several times and Wesley and Brandon found me in the open court. If the game is on the line and the ball is in my hands I am going to shoot it. I don't know if you want to call me the go-to-guy. I'm just one of the guys on the court trying to get San Diego State a victory."
On the upcoming games:
"We are taking this one game at a time. Obviously, everyone knows there is a big game on Monday, but we lost to Eastern Washington last year and they took one of our victories away. Last year, they came into our house and beat us in our opener so we are looking for pay back."
Brandon Heath
On his past two games:
"I'm trying to stay consistent. I am thankful to have a guy like Wesley Stokes on my team to get me the ball when I am open. I just go out there and play every night and let the game come to me."
Cal Poly Head Coach Kevin Bromley
On San Diego State:
"They are a good basketball team. What hurt us in the first half is they turned our turnovers into fast break opportunities. We had 12 turnovers at halftime and a lot of times they were broken plays, a deflection or a steal, and away they go. They are quick athletes and they are great in transition. Some of that is to their credit because it was good pressure."
