SAN DIEGO (AP) - Brandon Heath scored 15 of his game-high 20 points in the second half and Aerick Sanders added 19 points, leading San Diego State to a 90-71 victory over Cal Poly Thursday night.
Heath hit 6-of-8 shots in the second half as the Aztecs pulled away and took a 55-38 lead 5 1-2 minutes into the half after consecutive 3-pointers by Wesley Stokes and Heath. Stokes finished with 16 points and eight assists.
Heath, a true freshman, was coming off a career-high 30 points in San Diego State's 78-68 loss at Texas Tech on Saturday.
Sanders hit his first seven shots before finishing 9-of-10 from the floor. He also had a game-high 10 rebounds as the Aztecs held a 45-29 edge on the boards.
San Diego State (6-3) was 10-for-21 from 3-point range, including 6-of-11 in the first half.
Varnie Dennis paced Cal Poly (3-3) with 17 points, although he made just 7-of-19 shots. Shane Schilling added 14 points.
San Diego State used an 18-4 run to take a 38-27 lead with 3:33 left in the first half, scoring most of the points on easy transition baskets. The Aztecs led 40-32 at the half.
