Provo, Utah - Competing in its second dual meet of the weekend, San Diego State fell to the defending Mountain West Conference champion Brigham Young squad by a score of 177-123. The Cougars improved to 1-1 on the season while SDSU fell to 0-2.
After the Aztecs took second in the opening event, the 200 medley relay, senior Megan Storey got the Aztecs their initial first-place finish of the afternoon when she won the 1000 free in a time of 10:32.23. Storey also took first in the 200 butterfly (2:11.86) and second in the 500 free (5:12.42).
Freshman Caitlin Friedhoff continued her excellent weekend of competition as she took first place in both the 50 free (24.67) and 100 free (53.45). Both marks were her best time of the young season as she has improved her times in those vents in each of the Aztecs first three outing.
Other first-pace finishes recorded the Aztecs were Hannah Ryan in the 500 free (5:12.42) and Stella Karoly in the 200 individual medley (2:12.42). The team's lone 1-2-3 sweep of the day came in the 200 butterfly with Storey winning the event followed by Karoly (2:14.63) and Emily Schmied (2:15.48).
Up next for San Diego State is another Mountain West Conference dual meet as New Mexico visits the Ray and Joan Kroc Community Center next Saturday (Nov. 15) at noon.
