San Diego - San Diego State senior Hannah Ryan has been named Mountain West Conference Women's Swimmer for her performance in last Saturday's dual meet against New Mexico. This is the first career weekly conference honor for Ryan.
Ryan, a Sonoma, Calif., native, helped the Aztecs to their first conference victory of the season over New Mexico last weekend, bringing home two individual victories, a second-place individual finish and helping the 200 freestyle relay team to a win. She started her meet off with a win in the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:53.16.
Ryan also won the 500 freestyle, clocking in at a career-best 4:59.41. Her career-best time beat her previous best by four seconds, was the fourth-best time in the history of the Aztec program and is the second-best time in the MWC this season. In addition, she had a career-best finish in the 50 freestyle (24.97), finishing in second-place before capping off the meet in helping the 200 freestyle relay squad to a victory (1:39.28).
The Aztecs continue home conference action this Saturday when they host UNLV and Wyoming in a double dual meet at the Ray and Joan Kroc Community Center Pool. The first event is schedule to start at noon.
