SAN DIEGO - San Diego State senior Felix Hardt advanced to the round of 32 at the 2003 Icy Hot/ITA Men's All-American Championships Qualifying Tournament in Chattanooga, Tenn., following a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Evan Zeder of Illinois on Tuesday.
The victory moved Hardt one step closer to the main draw for the first grand slam event of the men's tennis season. The 64-player field will play down to eight, with those players being inserted into the main draw.
Senior Ryan Redondo was not as fortunate on Tuesday. Redondo fell to Montana State's Federico Ueltschi, 6-4, 6-3.
The championships continue on Wednesday.
