BREMERTON, WASH. - San Diego State sits in fourth place after shooting 745 (+25) on the first 36-holes at the Opus Northwest Husky Invitational. In the tournament, five scores are counted out of six players, instead of the usual four scores. SDSU opened with a 372 and finished the day with 373. The host school University of Washington leads the pack at 731 (+11) while Oregon State is in second at 740 (+20). Aztec freshman Cory Segall led SDSU with scores of 73-71 as he sits at even par 144 and is tied for fifth as an individual. The final 18-holes will be played on Tuesday with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m.
Segall entered the tournament with the teams top stroke average at 71.33 and continued playing well on Monday. Cory's one-under 71 tied for the second best score of the second round. Segall is only four strokes off the pace of Brock Mackenzie who leads the tournament at four-under 140.
Fellow freshman Jamie Puterbaugh shot 74-72 for a two-over 146 total and is tied for 10th. Mark Warman and Steven Eschbach shot identical rounds of 74-76 and sit in 25th position.
