Miesha McKelvy-Jones Earns A Bronze Medal At The World Track and Field Championships

SAINT-DENIS, FRANCE - Former SDSU track and field standout Miesha McKelvy-Jones finished third in the 100-meter hurdles (12.67) to win a bronze medal Wednesday at the 2003 IAAF World Championships in Saint-Denis, France.

McKelvy-Jones, who is coached by Aztec track and field head coach Rahn Sheffield, was the top American finisher in the finals, coming in behind Canada's Perdita Felicien (12.53) and Jamaica's Brigitte Foster (12.57).

Earlier in the meet, the 1999 SDSU graduate won her preliminary heat in 12.94 on Monday, before advancing to the final with the third-fastest time in the semifinals of 12.77 on Tuesday.

McKelvy-Jones was a two-time All-American for the Aztecs in the 100-meter hurdles in 1997 and 1998. Her other career highlights include a gold medal at the 1999 Pan Am Games and three runner-up finishes at the USA Outdoor championships in 1999, 2002 and 2003.
