EUGENE, Ore. - Aztec junior tennis player Felix Hardt has been named a second-team Verizon Academic All-District VIII selection it was announced Thursday. Hardt, an international business major, plays number three singles and number three doubles for the 29th-ranked Aztecs and boasts a 3.87 grade point average.
The Allensbach, Germany, native went 18-10 overall this year, including a 14-8 record during the dual campaign, and was ranked as high as 75th nationally in singles action this season. Hardt won more singles and doubles matches on SDSU's 2002 NCAA tournament team than any other player. Over the span of his two-year career, he is 38-19 in singles and 30-14 in doubles.
Hardt is a two-time all-Mountain West Conference singles team selection as well as a 2003 all-conference doubles team honoree. He also earned all-conference academic recognition for his efforts in the classroom during the 2001-2002 school year.
Hardt was one of 30 student-athletes from 19 schools who were voted to the three academic all-district teams in the at-large category. The at-large team encompasses the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling, and was voted on by CoSIDA members from within District VIII.
