Aztec Swimmers Finish Eighth At 2003 MWC Championships

Oklahoma City - San Diego concluded the 2003 Mountain West Conference Swimming and Diving Championships in Oklahoma City with 263 points to finish eighth in the team competition. The meet draws an end to the Aztecs 2002-03 campaign during which a young SDSU squad swam several all-time top five times in various events.

The final day of the MWC Championships saw senior Erin Kilpatrick conclude her Aztecs career with a team-best second-place finish in the 200 butterfly in a time of 2:04.97. Megan Storey (11th in 2:08.08) and Emily Schmied (11th in 2:08.25) also scored points for SDSU in this event.

Kilpatrick was also a member of the Aztecs 400 free relay team (along with Hannah Ryan, Sarah Lattus and Schmied) that swam a 3:32.27 to shave four seconds off the team's previous season-best clocking.

In the 200 breaststroke, Jill Karacozoff took eighth place (2:23.10) while teammate Jennifer Graham finished third in the consolation final (11th overall) in 2:22.32, eclipsing her season top time by two seconds.

In the 200 backstroke, both Melissa Webb (2:08.52) and Danielle Kahn (2:07.20) improved on their season best times by almost three seconds. That twosome finished seventh and 11th .
