SDSU Women's Basketball Kicks Off The Second Round Of Conference Play At UNLV
With two wins in the last three games, the San Diego State women's basketball team hopes to begin second round action of Mountain West Conference play with a victory over travel partner UNLV, Saturday at Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas. The Aztecs split its pair of games last week, while the Lady Rebels claimed wins over both Wyoming and Colorado State.

Since MWC play began in 1999-2000, SDSU has posted similar records in both halves of the conference season, compiling a 6-15 mark in the first round and a 5-16 record in the second half entering this season.

- The Records: SDSU (8-10, 2-4 MWC) snapped a two-game conference win streak with a loss to Wyoming last Saturday. The Aztecs finished the first round of MWC play with a 2-5 record, already matching their conference win total from a year ago. While SDSU split its games with Colorado State and Wyoming a week ago, UNLV picked up a pair of wins, beating the Cowgirls by three (68-65) and pounding the Rams, 90-71. UNLV is now tied for third in the MWC with a 4-3 mark, while the Aztecs are sixth along with Colorado State at 2-5.

- In The RPI: In the 18th RPI rankings released by the WBCA through games of February 12, SDSU moved to 207th, while UNLV is No. 105. The Aztecs are No. 188 (College Basketball News) and No. 205 (Collegerpi.com), respectively, in the other major RPIs.

- SDSU Head Coach Jim Tomey: Tomey (Michigan '81) is in his first season at San Diego State, taking over the Aztec helm on April 9, 2002. His career and Aztec head coaching record is 8-11.

- UNLV Head Coach Regina Miller: Miller (ODU, 1984) is in her fifth season with the Lady Rebels. Her UNLV record is 89-48, while her career head coaching record is 149-148 in 11 seasons.
