Long Beach - San Diego State concluded three days of stiff competition at the Speedo Cup in Long Beach with 367 points to finish 11th of 23 teams. Pacific, which led the meet from start to finish, totaled 1,138 points to garner top team honors. Over the course of the competition, the Aztecs had 33 swimmers turn in individual season-best times with eight of those times being team bests for the current campaign.
On the meet's final day, junior Megan Storey turned in San Diego State's top individual performance of the weekend when she finished second in the 1,650 free with a time of 17:10.57. She also placed 10th in the 200 butterfly (2:02.22). Her times n both events were personal season lows.
Senior Erin Kilpatrick continued her solid outing at the Cup with her third top-seven fini9sh of the meet, coming in fourth in the 200 fly at 2:06.55. In addition to being a season personal best, her time is also the lowest for an Aztec this fall.
Freshman Melissa Webb also established a new Aztec season standard when she placed 16th in the 200 backstroke. Her time of 2:08.52 is the top SDSU mark this season and improved her personal best by 1.3 seconds.
The Aztecs will now have a four-week break from competition before returning after the holidays to compete at the Irvine Invitational on Jan. 4-5 in Irvine.
