Oct. 19, 2002

Long Beach, Calif. - The San Diego State women's cross country squad earned third-place at the Long Beach Invitational Saturday. The finish marks the second time this season the Aztecs have placed in the top three.

Senior Jennifer Stakiw came off injury this week to lead the Aztecs. She finished fifth out of 92 runners and set a personal best time of 18:13. Also setting personal bests were senior Alicia Stewart (18:37), freshman Jamillah Titus (18:46) and junior Julie Amster (20:21).

"We're running very well as a group right now," said Jennifer Nanista, assistant coach. "And it's just in time for conference."

The Aztecs face a week off of competition to get ready for the Mountain West Conference Championships. The meet will be held on Nov. 1 in Provo, Utah.
