SAN DIEGO - San Diego State women's cross country team finished third at the Aztec Invitational Saturday, placing ahead of two Pac-10 teams, USC and No. 25 Arizona.

Senior Jennifer Stakiw led the squad with a time of 18:52, finishing 13th out of 61 runners. Following Stakiw were freshmen standouts Christal Cuadra (19:08) and Jamillah Titus (19:11), who placed 17th and 18th, respectively. Veteran Alicia Stewart crossed the finish line in 19th place (19:11).

"We had a great grouping in the invitational," said assistant coach Jennifer Nanista. "I am very happy with everyone. Jennifer (Stakiw) has been sick all this week, and she still led the group."

No. 9 Arkansas and No. 13 Northern Arizona finished in the first and second spots. NAU's Ida Nilsson won the individual title with a time of 17:44. University of San Diego took the women's open title.
