San Diego State Water Polo falls to Top-Ranked Stanford

PALO ALTO - Eighth-ranked San Diego State women's water polo fell to number one Stanford, 12-4, Friday night at the Avery Aquatics Center in Palo Alto.

San Diego State started the first half strong, but was shut out the second part of the game, as Stanford was able to capitalize on the counter attack. Holly Hartzell led the Aztecs with two goals, while Amber Prestegard and Lisa Weise each scored one.

Goalkeepers Heather Stiles and Ashley Zabel split time in the cage with Stiles recording one save, and Zabel, six.

The Aztecs return home on Thursday when they play host to 11th-ranked Hawaii. Game time is set for 4 p.m. at Bud Kerns Pool.
