SDSU Relay Team Sets NCAA Mark At Sun Angel Classic

April 13, 2002

TEMPE, Ariz. - San Diego State's 4x400-meter relay team set an NCAA provisional qualifying mark on Saturday at the Sun Angel Classic held on the Arizona State campus.

The Aztec team of Tonette Dyer, Ryan Peters, Jini Hogg and Hollann Givens raced to a third-place and season-best time of 3:36.82 in the 4x400. The time also places the team third all-time on SDSU records chart. The mark is the relay team's second provisional one of the season, having raced to a time of 3:38.81 at the Cal-Nevada Championships in March.

The quartet also competed in the 4x100 relay, placing fourth with a time of 45.57. The 4x100 squad has already qualified provisionally for nationals in that event, having run 44.77 at the Cal-Nevada Championships.

The relay squads will look to improve their marks at next weekend's Mt. SAC Relays, to be held in Walnut, Calif.
