IRVINE, Calif. - The 12th-ranked San Diego State women's water polo team added two wins to its record as it beat UC Irvine 7-6 Saturday morning and then shut out the University of Redlands 5-0 later that afternoon.
Casey Finnegan led the Aztecs with three goals against the 17th-ranked Anteaters, with Holly Hartzell adding two more. Amber Prestegard and Whitney Winlow each scored one goal. Goalkeeper Heather Stiles recorded 6 saves in the Aztecs first Mountain Pacific Sports Federation win of the season.
In the later game, Ashley Zabel recorded 12 saves in goal and earned a shutout against Division III University of Redlands. Donna Stivers led San Diego State with two goals, with Whitney Winlow, Katie Clark and Jackie Lopez each scoring one.
On Sunday, the Aztecs (8-6/ 1-1 MPSF) will head up to Long Beach to take on the 17th-ranked 49ers at noon.
