Aztec Run Not Enough To Beat Trojans

SAN DIEGO - Despite a 3-0 run in the final minutes of the game, the San Diego State water polo team lost to USC, 13-8, in conference play at Bud Kearns Pool.

The Trojans took immediate control of the game with a backhanded shot and went on a 3-0 run in the first quarter. The Aztecs answered with a huge assist off of the goal by Casey Finnegan to Lisa Weise for the goal. Dominique Delgado found a way to sneak a shot into the corner in the second quarter decreasing the score to 5-2 Trojans.

Holly Hartzell scored three goals for the Aztecs, while Amber Prestegard took advantage out of a time out for her solo goal of the game. Beth Merlo and Casey Finnegan each added to the total with one goal each.
