SDSU Swimmers Set School Records In Day Two Of MWC Championships

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The San Diego State swim team set a pair of school records on Thursday in the second day of competition at the Mountain West Conference Swimming and Diving Championships held at the Oklahoma City Community College Aquatics Center.

Senior Heather DeFelice was responsible for one of the program bests, a 23.62 second-place finish in the prelim heat of the 50-yard freestyle. Her mark bested the previous record of 23.90 she set on Nov. 29 at the UNLV Winter Invitational. She went on to score a fourth-place time of 23.65 in the finals of the 50 free.

The other record of the day came in the 200 freestyle relay, where the team of Jennifer Graham, Hannah Ryan, Aletta Haff and DeFelice racing to a sixth-place time of 1:36.77.

SDSU is in seventh place with 124 points. UNLV leads the pack with 219 points followed by Brigham Young (202) and Colorado State (200).

The conference championships continue tomorrow with prelims at 11 a.m. CT and finals at 6 p.m. CT. The event runs through Saturday.
