MALIBU, Calif. - The San Diego State swim team closed out its 2002 regular season with a decisive 154-85 victory over Pepperdine on Saturday at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool. The victory was the Aztec's third in dual-meet competition within 24 hours, coming on the heels of a sweep of a double-dual with Loyola Marymount and Cal Poly on Friday in Los Angeles.

SDSU (10-3 dual) scored a top-finish in all 11 swimming events and had two athletes, sophomore Megan Storey and junior Erin Kilpatrick, win two events apiece.

Storey's wins came in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle where she recorded times of 1:55.07 and 5:06.94, respectively. Kilpatrick took top honors in the 100 free (54.46) and 400 individual medley (4:38.43).

Sophomore Jill Karacozoff set a season best in the 200 breaststroke with her 2:21.33 first-place clocking.

The Aztecs close the season with 10 dual-meet wins, the most since the program was reinstated in 1994. The previous best was seven wins in 1999-2000 when the team went 7-7.

SDSU will take some time off from competition to prepare for the 2002 Mountain West Conference Championships to be held in Oklahoma City Feb. 27-Mar. 2. The Aztecs finished sixth at last year's league meet.
