Ned, Garl Named SDSU Student-Athletes Of The Month

Nov. 6, 2001

SAN DIEGO - San Diego State running back Larry Ned and junior women's soccer player Hannah Garl have been selected as SDSU's SBC Pacific Bell Student-Athletes of the Month for October.

Ned, a senior from Moreno Valley, is currently the nation's second-leading rusher, averaging over 140 yards per game for the Aztec football squad. He has already earned a degree in criminal justice and is currently pursuing a second degree in economics.

Garl is a junior from Tacoma, Wash. She is the leader of the Aztec soccer defense and a threat to score from the back line. She was a member of the Mountain West Conference all-academic team in 2000 and a two-time "Big Red" award winner at San Diego State for her academic work while pursuing a degree in business administration.

SBC Pacific Bell and San Diego State athletics have joined forces to recognize Aztec successes in competition as well as in the classroom with the monthly award.

The Student Athlete of the Month program is in conjunction with Aztec PRIDE (Promoting Responsibility, Integrity, Diversity and Education among SDSU student-athletes).
