SAN DIEGO - San Diego State's Travis Hasson and Ryan Redondo were victors in the first round of pre-qualifying at the ITA All-American Championships at the Lincoln Tennis Center in Stone Mountain, Ga.
Hasson and Redondo are attempting to join teammate Oliver Maiberger in the main draw when the first grand slam of the college tennis season gets underway on Oct. 11. The pre-qualifying tournament consists of 256 singles players and 128 doubles teams from 62 schools playing for eight spots in the qualifying tournament which begins on Tuesday.
The Aztecs' Hasson defeated Richard Turner of Birmingham Southern 6-3, 6-2, while Redondo got pass Josh Rey of Butler in straight sets 6-1, 7-5.
Play was delayed today due to rain and other first round singles matches are still in progress. Second round matches may begin late tonight or tomorrow pending rain delays.
