The San Diego State women's volleyball team looks to continue its conference winning streak when they host the Colorado State Rams on Thursday at 7 p.m. and the Wyoming Cowgirls on Sunday at 1 p.m., in Peterson Gym.

Scouting The Competition
The Rams picked up two wins over West Coast Conference teams last week after defeating the San Diego Toreros and Saint Mary's at Colorado State. The 8-0 Rams are the only undefeated team in the Mountain West and are a league-best 5-0 at home. Senior Angela Knopf registered a league-high 34 points versus the Toreros after racking up 27 kills, two aces, a solo block and eight blocks assists.

The Cowgirls hold a 5-3 overall record and posted a 1-1 record in the MWC/WCC Challenge last week. The Cowgirls lost to USD, despite outblocking the opponent 13 to 4. Wyoming rebounded to defeat Saint Mary's in five, while four cowgirls tallied double-doubles last week, including three versus Saint Mary's (Lau, Doman, Maytorena).

Aztecs In Review
The San Diego State women's volleyball team broke out the broom when they opened conference action with not one, but two sweeps on the road. The last time the Aztecs entered conference with only two losses was 1995 when the team went 27-5 overall and 13-1 in conference, as well as an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

The Aztecs beat the Falcons in three at the Academy with senior Katie Magnuson nailing a career-high 16 kills followed by junior Nicole Akporiaye who tallied 11 kills in the match.

The Lobos were no match for the Red and Black. Sophomores Zlatina Anguelova and Aspen McPartland nailed double-digit kills with 14 and 10 respectively. Sophomore Megan Schauermann held a block party of her own nailing a career-high 10 blocks versus Air Force and then tying that high against the Lobos. 40 percent of her total blocks in the season came from those two games.

San Diego State's Head Coach Warner
Head Coach Mark Warner is in his seventh season at the helm of the Aztec women's volleyball program. In his time as head coach he has amassed a 109-85 career record with the Aztecs.

Warner officially took the post after an impressive showing as interim head coach in 1995, when h led the squad to a 27-5 record and its first ever Western Athletic Conference championship. The Aztecs finished the season with their best winning percentage in school history and fewest losses ever.

Coach Warner is aided by assistant coach John Ross (SDSU '93) and assistant coach John Shirk (SDSU '98). Medical assistance is provided by Jodi Baker.
