FULLERTON, Calif. - Led by junior Jennifer Stakiw (42nd) and Allison Brown (69th), the San Diego State cross country team finished eighth of 15 teams Saturday at the Cal State Fullerton Jammin' Invitational.
Stakiw was the first Aztec to cross the finish line in 19:43.30 to place 42nd followed by Brown (20:22.40).
Amanda Vielbaum (82nd) and Laura Preston (93rd) set personal bests at the meet, finishing in 20:38.70 and 21:03.00, respectively. Rounding out SDSU's top five was newcomer Nika Dunn with a time of 21:06.70.
Stanford's Mariel Ettinger won the women's individual competition, finishing with a time of 17:33.10.
SDSU finished with 283 points, one spot ahead of Pepperdine (293) and one place behind UC Riverside (210). Stanford won the event with 18 points.
SDSU will compete for the second time this season when they host the Aztec Invitational on Sept. 15th at Balboa Park. The competition is set to begin at 8 a.m.
