Water Polo Athletes Earn Academic Honors

SAN DIEGO - The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation has named four San Diego State women's water polo players to its 2001 all-academic team.

Honorees for the Aztecs included seniors Kelly Falcone and Lisa Swain and sophomores Heidi Matsumoto and Becky Sensney. Sensney had the highest grade-point average of the four with a 3.58, she was followed by Falcone with a 3.44. Matsumoto earned a spot on the list with a 3.27 and Swain a 3.03.

Qualifying student athletes must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better, must be at least a sophomore academically, must have completed at least one full academic year at the school they compete for and must have participated in at least 50 percent of their school's competitions.
