PASADENA, Calif. - San Diego State sent only nine athletes to Saturday's Occidental Invitational, however four came away with new season-bests.
Sophomore Abbey Huchel may have had the best outing on the day for SDSU, placing third in the pole vault after clearing a personal-best 10-11.75.
Freshmen Angie Fitzpatrick and Julie Amster and junior Julianne Ghiglieri all ran season-bests in the 3000 meters. Allison Brown was the Aztecs' top finisher in that event, placing 10th.
The Aztecs return to action this week when San Diego State hosts the 2001 Mountain West Conference Track and Field Outdoor Championships, May 16-19, on the Choc Sportsman Oval at the SDSU Sports Deck. The action gets underway on Wednesday, May 16th, with the opening rounds of the women's heptathlon and men's decathlon at 12:30 p.m. Qualifying in the individual events begins at 11 a.m. on Friday. An all-sessions, four-day ticket is $12.00 for adults and $10.00 for children. Single-session tickets are $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for children.
