SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego State women's track and field team captured eight of the 19 events contested and combined for a total of 168 points as the Aztecs cruised to victory in the five-team All-Women Invitational on the Choc Sportsman Oval at the SDSU Sports Deck, Saturday. Southern Utah combined for 141 points to place second, while Sacramento State finished third with 134.50 points. Utah (123.5) and Nevada-Las Vegas (83) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

The Aztecs once again wracked up the majority of their points in sprint and middle distance events, winning four of the five races. Senior Promise Mose and junior Kylie Edwards led the way picking up two wins apiece. Mose ran a seasonal-best 24.81 to capture the 200 meters and followed up with a time of 55.00 to take the 400 meters. Edwards, meanwhile, outdistanced the field in both the 800 and 1500 meters.

SDSU also went one, two in the 100-meter hurdles as both junior Daveetta Shepherd (13.75) and senior Marisa Robinson (13.83) both clocked their fastest times of the year in the event. Shepherd also took second in the 100-meter dash with a seasonal-best time of 12.16.

Senior Aimee Crabtree cleared 12-04.00 to win the pole vault competition and classmate Aja Frary won the long jump with a leap of 20-01.75 as the Aztec also found success in the field events.

San Diego State returns to action next week when the Aztecs travel to Walnut, Calif., for the Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) Relays, April 19-22.
