San Diego State Drops Last Home Game

SAN DIEGO - The No. 8 San Diego State water polo team (14-9, 4-4) lost its last home game of the season to No. 5 San Jose State, 7-4, Saturday afternoon at Bud Kearns Pool in Balboa Park.

Aztec Amber Prestegard scored the first goal of the game in the first quarter to give SDSU the early lead. However, the Spartans scored five-straight goals while shutting down the Aztecs scoring contingent for the remainder of the first half.

SDSU responded in the third quarter with a goal from Prestegard and back-to-back scores from sophomore Jackie Lopez. Inna Fedoseyeva of SJSU countered with two goals of her own to bring the game to the final score, 7-4.

Freshman Ashley Zabel of San Diego State had eight goalie saves.

The Aztecs are next in action Saturday, April 7, at No. 3 USC at 12:00 p.m.
