Women's Water Polo Defeats Cal Baptisat And Falls To LMU

RIVERSIDE - The No. 10 San Diego State women's water polo team (14-7) defeated No. 15 Cal Baptist, 10-7, and lost to No. 9 Loyola Marymount, 10-8, Saturday at Cal Baptist.

The Aztecs avenged an early season loss by defeating Cal Baptist, 10-7. SDSU lost to Cal Baptist, 4-3, in its first game of the season at the UCSD Invitational. Freshman Holly Hartzell led the Aztecs to Saturday's victory, scoring five goals. Sophomores Casey Finnegan and Amber Prestegard each added two goals and Senior Kelly Falcone scored one. Freshman Ashley Zabel had five saves in the goal and junior goalie Heather Stiles recorded two.

San Diego State also recorded another close loss to Loyola Marymount. This is the Aztecs third loss to LMU this season. Finnegan, Prestegard and Hartzell headed up the scoring for SDSU, each scoring two gaols. Falcone and sophomore Jackie Lopez also each added one gaol. Stiles had six saves in the goal.

The Aztecs continue their season Friday, March 30, at 3:00 p.m. against No. 1 Stanford at Bud Kearns Pool in Balboa Park.
