SAN DIEGO - The No. 10 San Diego State water polo team upset No. 8 Long Beach State, 10-8, Friday afternoon at Bud Kearns Pool in Balboa Park.
The Aztecs opened the game with a goal from freshman Holly Hartzell, however the momentum quickly switched as the 49esrs responded with three consecutive goals in the first quarter.
San Diego State sophomore Amber Prestegard scored early in the second quarter to bring the Aztecs back into the game. SDSU took a the lead and kept it after out scoring Long Beach 5 goals to two in the third quarter.
Hartzell led the Aztecs with five goals and Prestegard scored two. Junior Heather Stiles recorded two goalie saves.
The Aztecs are next in action Saturday, March 24 at Cal Baptist at 10:00 a.m. They will also play Loyola at Cal Baptist at 1:00 p.m.
