March 22, 2001

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - San Diego State's freshman two-meter player, Holly Hartzell (Vista, Calif., Fallbrook High School) earned this week's Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Mikasa Player of the Week by scoring nine goals in leading the No. 10 ranked Aztecs in two MPSF games last week.

A member of the USA Junior National Team, a Gold medalist at the 2000 Junior Pan Am Games and the 2000 CIF Player of the Year, Hartzell scored four goals in a 15-6 loss to No. 4 California and five goals in a 7-3 win over No. 16 Pacific as SDSU split two MPSF conference games.

Hartzell also led the Aztecs with four goals in Tuesday's 9-4 victory over No. 19 Massachusetts. This marked the seventh-straight game Hartazell has been the leading scorer.

Hartzell leads the team in goals this season with 47. After scoring four goals against UMass, she ties for tenth on SDSU's all-time records for a single season in goals after only 18 games.
