SAN DIEGO - San Diego State sophomore Amber Prestegard scored five third-quarter goals and seven for the game to lead the sixth-ranked Aztecs over UC Irvine, 17-8, in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation action at the Anteater Aquatics Complex Fiday night. The Aztecs improved to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the MPSF.
Freshman Holly Hartzell added three goals for the Aztecs. Senior Kelly Falcone and sophomore Heidi Matsumoto each scored two goals. Junior goalie Heather Stiles recorded 10 saves for SDSU.
This is the third time SDSU has defeated UC Irvine in a week. The two teams played twice at last weekend's UCSD Invitational. SDSU won both games, 10-6 and 8-5, respectively.
The Aztecs are next in action tomorrow at UCLA at 10:00 a.m. and at Loyola Marymount at 3:00 p.m.
